The Deutsche Bahn and the three largest German conservationist associations included Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau in the cooperative project “Destination Nature” in 2012. You can learn more in "db mobil" (issue 4/2012): Der sanfte Schöne [“The Gentle Beauty”]
The region can be reached via ICE/TGV (Frankfurt – Paris) with the stop at Saarbrücken Hbf. train station several times a day. This is supplemented by RE- and IC-trains that stop at Saarbrücken and in some cases in Homburg and St. Ingbert. The S-Bahn Rhein-Neckar ends in the Main Rail Station in Homburg. Regional trains and streetcar lines provide for good daily connections to the Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau, they run mostly on an hourly schedule.

Two regional rail lines and one streetcar line connect 13 stops in the Biosphere Reserve to the surrounding cities of Homburg, Saarbrücken, St. Ingbert and Zweibrücken. The bus lines R7, R10, MS3 and 501 supplement this range of options daily on a regular schedule and make long hikes in the protected region easily possible. Additional bus lines provide an extensive service Mondays through Saturdays.

An excellent example of promoting eco-friendly tourism in the Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau is the development of bus line 501 into the “Biosphere Bus” 501. Today it is the backbone of local public transportation in the region. It even won an award at the Destination Nature Awards 2014. The “Biosphere Bus” 501 travels a distance of 54 kilometres every hour from Homburg over Reinheim to Kleinblittersdorf and back. The Biosphere Bus connects numerous leisure, shopping and nature destinations seven days a week, from shortly after 7 in the morning to after 10 in the evening. It connects with the railway at three stops.
